英语词源 | alkali 碱

中世纪阿拉伯化学家从生于海边的藜科植物(saltwort)提取碳酸钠，把它叫做al-qali，意思是ashes of saltwott（藜灰）。从那以后，英国化学家将阿拉伯词音译过来，作alkali,用以指汉语中的“碱”。
