区别辨析conceal、hide与screen

这些动词均含“隐藏、隐蔽”之意。

conceal : 正式用词，多强调有目的、有意识，巧妙地进行隐藏或隐瞒。

• The listening device was concealed in a pen.
  窃听装置藏在了笔里。
• I tried to conceal my surprise when she told me her age.
  她告诉我她的年龄时，我尽力掩饰自己的惊讶。
• It was said that the police concealed vital evidence.
  据说警方隐瞒了关键的证据。

hide : 普通用词，既可指有意地隐藏，又可指无意或偶然地藏匿。

• He hid the letter in a drawer.
  他把信藏在抽屉里。
• I keep my private papers hidden.
  我藏起了我的私人文件。
• They hid me from the police in their attic.
  他们把我藏在他们的阁楼上躲避警察。

screen : 指把处于被发现的人或物掩盖起来，使其不被发现。

• The mother tried to screen her guilty son.
  母亲企图庇护她那有罪的儿子。
• Such state court orders may not, however, provide polluters with a complete screen from liability.
  然而，这种州法院的命令不可能彻底地庇护污染者逃避责任。
