区别辨析carpet、blanket与rug

这些名词均含有“毛毯，地毯”之意。

carpet : 指用来铺地板或楼梯的厚实的棉、毛地毯。

• They put down wooden boards, and laid new carpets on top.
  他们铺好木地板,在上面铺上新地毯。

blanket : 指厚实的棉、毛织品，用于铺床或披在身上保暖的毛毯。

• The blanket did not completely cover the bed.
  这毯子没能把床全部蒙上。
• The stewardess kindly brought me a blanket.
  女乘务员体贴地给我拿来了毯子。

rug : 指小地毯或盖肩膀或膝盖以保暖的围毯、小毛毯。

• a hearth rug (= in front of a fireplace )
  壁炉前的小地毯
• The old lady was seated in her chair at the window, a rug over her knees.
  老太太坐在窗边的椅子上，膝盖上盖着一条小毯子。
