这两个形容词均含“具体的”之意。

concrete : 指通过感官能看到、听到、触到的具体东西。其反义词是abstract。

  • They think she killed her husband, but they have no concrete evidence.
    他们认为她杀死了自己的丈夫,但是没有确凿的证据。
  • We have a general idea of what we want, but nothing concrete at the moment.
    我们对需要什么有个大致的想法,可是具体的东西目前还没有想好。

specific : 侧重指具体的细节,是与general(一般),vague(模糊)相对的具体。

  • No specific allegations have yet been made about the prison officers’ behaviour.
    对于典狱官的行为,尚未作出明确的指控。
  • Can you be more specific about where your back hurts?
    你能不能更具体一点说你的背哪里疼?
  • I gave you specific instructions.
    我给过你明确的指示。
  • ‘I’d like your help tomorrow.’ ‘Can you be more specific (= tell me exactly what you want) ?’
    “我想让你明天来帮帮我。”“你能不能说得具体些?”
