区别辨析appear、emerge、show与loom

这些动词均有“出现”之意。

appear ：强调公开露面，被看见。

• This problem first appeared in the inner cities.
  这个问题最初在市区中心出现。

emerge ：侧重缓缓出现的过程。

• The swimmer emerged from the lake.
  游泳者从湖水中浮出来。

show ：语气较强，强调“露出来”。

• I waited an hour but he didn’t show.
  我等了一个小时，可他一直没露面。

loom ：指朦胧出现，好像从雾中浮现出来一样。

• A dark shape loomed up ahead of us.
  一个黑糊糊的影子隐隐出现在我们的前面。
